I researched diffusing urban festivals in Japan, YOSAKOI, 1992-2005. The reserch' s points are (1)originality (2)macro-micro views (3)paticipant observation (4)presentation in non-academic area. YOSAKOI started in 1954, Kochi-city. So, its imitation, YOSAKOI-SORAN started in 1992, Sapporo-city. After YOSAKOI-SORAN, 600 sities imitated same festivais. YOSAKOI style consists of (1)original dance (Naruko-odori) (2)folk-songs (3)freedom in music and dance, e.t.c. I investigated YOSAKOI, all over Japan. Especially, I researched in Chiba.
