Research Abstract |
The Theme of this research was MRI analyses of brain lesion in canine distemper encephalitis. In the acute phase of canine distemper encephalitis, there were no changes in the brain ; inflammatory effects and ventricular enlargement. These results revealed that MRI is not diagnostic tool in the acute phase of canine distemper encephalitis. On the other hand, in some phase of canine distemper encephalitis, there were changes that narrow brain ditch, enlargement of lateral and third ventricles and rounding of lateral ventricles. This phase may show heavy inflammation time. And, in the phase that there were no inflammation in brain parenchyma and no rounding in lateral ventricles, the brain ditches were enlarged. This findings may show the chronic period of the canine distemper encephalitis. Finally, in this study, the antibody test and the antigen test of canine distemper virus were not useful in the diagnosis of canine distemper encephalitis.
