Research Abstract |
Patients with a coronary artery disease have increasingly in Japan. However it is difficult for patients to keep their motivation for modifying their lifestyle and also to have the learning opportunities after discharging hospital. Patients with coronary artery disease should learn how to manage their illness and how to prevent the progression of atherosclerosis through the modification of their life style. A cardiac rehabilitation program should be designed to meet these requirements. In our study, we constructed and evaluated new health educational systems for preventing a coronary artery disease using Internet educational programs. We provided a new program consisted of exercise, counseling, and the health educational system by Internet for healthy people to prevent coronary artery disease. To modify healthy life-style, educational programs for a coronary artery disease were set up Web side. The complements of the program were ; health educational kits, the exercise and diet diary, self-feeling and the medical cheek up records. The exercise and diet diary were set up about daily movement records. The Medical checks up items were based on the health survey in Japan. Fifty-percents of the people enrolled this program had regular physical activity. QOL scores and BMI were maintained 6 months after. The internet educational systems will be useful for not only preventing diseases in healthy people but also for patients with a lifestyle-related disease especially as prevention for the preliminary stage of process.
