Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the first year, I gained knowledge on four latest neuroscience research techniques and technologies by underpinning extant literature and interacting with scholars from CiNet Osaka, Kobe University/Department of Psychology, NICT Kobe and Human Sensing Lab/Carnegie Mellon University. I also attended several conferences such as Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroeconomics, and Annual Conference of Japanese Neural Network Society which has sharpened my knowledge on the building blocks for future scientific developments within this new area of research, which can be coined as “brain driven entrepreneurship.” I further accessed the RIKEN Brain Science Program that enhanced my knowledge of experimental design, cognitive psychology, and neuroscience. In fine, I have elaborated past literature on “brain level research on entrepreneurship” into a new stream of research which can be termed as “neuro-entrepreneurship”. I am expecting to publish this summary of literature soon. As a whole, I have successfully summed up the three primary goals set in the plan.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I carried out my research objectives as follows: 1)Gained knowledge on four latest neuroscience research techniques and technologies which have an enormous potential of producing relevant scientific advances in the field of neuro-entrepreneurship.These tools have never been used within the arena of entrepreneurship research:neurofeedback, transcranial direct-current stimulation, intra-face and remote electroencephalography. The identification and further understanding of these technologies have been possible due to my interactions with scholars from CiNet Osaka, NICT Kobe and Human Sensing Lab/Carnegie Mellon University. 2)Enhanced my expertise and knowledge substantially in carrying out my research, particularly experimental design, cognitive psychology, and neuroscience. I achieved this goal through a combination of participation in leading scientific conferences and extensive reading of peer-reviewed articles and books. I also attended several conferences such as Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroeconomics, Annual Conference of JNNS, and also accessed knowledge from the RIKEN Brain Science Program. 3)Elaborated literature on the topic of “brain level research on entrepreneurship”.This revision by first time attempts to merge the fields of psychology, neurosciences, and entrepreneurship into a new stream of research which can be named as neuro-entrepreneurship. I am expecting to produce this summary of literature soon in a paper format. All in all, in the first year, I have addressed the three major goals successfully as they were planned in my research proposal.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Taking into account that this research project is being carried out in a new field for the first time, I planned to advance my future research as follows: (a) Develop a comprehensive methodology that contemplates the guidelines on the application of neuroscience tools and techniques (such as those identified in the field of entrepreneurship research). (b) Enhance and deepen knowledge on neuro-entrepreneurship by meeting intellectuals and scholars with a particular focus on Japan, as Japan provides an ideal place regarding technological advances and scientific developments to continue my works. (c) Disseminate research results by presenting papers both in domestic and international conferences.
