| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
地球の気候変動のメカニズムを理解するためには、機器観測が始まる前にさかのぼる長期間のデータが必要である。しかし、日本周辺には精確に年代が決まった長期間の気候変動データが少なく解析を妨げる要因となっている。この点を解決するため、本計画では、鍾乳洞内の鍾乳石（石筍）に閉じ込められた流体包有物の同位体比に注目して研究を行う。本年度は具体的な研究は以下の２点について実施した。
（１）流体包有物同位体測定手法の改良：
昨年度までの実験に基づいて開発した新しい試料乾燥装置を利用して分析を行った。また、分析時間の短縮のために標準試料の水蒸気導入装置の開発を行った。
（２）流体包有物の同位体比測定による気候変動の復元
星野洞（沖縄県）、Lekiraka cave（東ティモール）石筍を中心に流体包有物と炭酸カルシウムの同位体比についてデータの信頼性向上のための追加測定を中心に引き続き実施した。星野洞の試料からは、流体包有物の同位体比データを計画通りに得ることができた。この結果、完新世中期と最終退氷期についてウラン・トリウム法による絶対年代の測定と流体包有物による定量的な復元温度データを初めて得ることができた。これらのデータを基に中期完新世及び最終退氷期の気温復元を行い、国内外の学会で発表した。降水の水素・酸素同位体比の決定メカニズムについてモデルも組み合わせた解析を行い学会や論文として発表した。また、分光式同位体比質量分析計が断続的に故障していたために、計画よりは遅れたが降水の酸素17の高精度分析を行い、沖縄島の降水の酸素17過剰が相対湿度の変動によって決まることを明らかにし、論文として公表した。また南大東島の石筍については、放射性炭素の分析も実施した。
