Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、EAR等に次世代衛星ビーコン観測を組合せ、全地球大気モデルを活用することで、電離圈の時間・空間構造を解明する。4つの課題を設定している。
課題1:次世代衛星ビーコン観測に対応するディジタル受信システムの開発、課題2:EARと衛星ビーコン観測による空間スケール数百~数千kmの電離圏構造の解明、課題3:EAR長期間観測データを用いた太陽活動度変動に対する電離圏構造の変動解析、課題4:シミュレーションを活用した電離圏大気圏相互結合の解明、である。
2017~2018年度の研究実績は、課題1について新しい4周波数受信機の開発を進めた。ディジタル受信部とアンテナ部の性能評価と改良を進めた。2018年5月に米国SRI Internationalに装置を持ち込み、室内で衛星送信機からの信号を受信する全体試験を実施した。国内において既存のビーコン衛星からの電波を用いたテスト観測を行った上で、2019年3月にタイ・バンコクに設置した。課題2では、多様な観測データに基づく電離圏構造の研究が実施された。具体的には、GPS受信機網にもとづく3次元トモグラフィー解析、長期間の観測に基づく中規模伝搬性電離圏擾乱の統計解析、オーストラリアから日本までの電波伝搬実験に基づく電離圏構造の解析、東南アジアにおけるGPS測位の航空利用についての研究、等である。課題3ではEAR長期連続観測を成功裏に継続し、ESFの統計解析が進められた。また高度150kmに発生する電離圏擾乱の研究、真夜中過ぎのESF現象に関する研究等が行われた。課題4では、観測データの総合解析や全地球大気モデルGAIAを活用した研究が進展した。GPS衛星観測とGAIAの比較から下層大気の変動がESF現象に与える影響についての成果が特筆される。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

課題2~4については非常に順調である。毎年の研究実績における報告論文数は20編を超えており、今回も25編の論文発表を報告した。この部分は当初の予定を超えた成果が得られている。課題1の新しい衛星ビーコン波用の受信機開発は、遅れがあったものの技術課題をほぼ解消し、タイ・バンコクへ設置した。但し、ビーコン衛星TBExおよびCOSMIC-2の打上げは遅延しており、最新情報では2019年6月に打上げ予定である。そのため、本課題を1年間繰り越して実施することとしている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

上記の通り、ビーコン衛星TBExおよびCOSMIC-2の配備が打上げロケットの都合から遅れてきた。現在のところ、打上げ予定は2019年6月に設定されている。そのため、研究課題の繰り越しを行った。2019年度には受信機を各地に設置し、観測を遅延なく進めていく。
