Outline of Final Research Achievements

To construct a long-term care prevention system in a community, public place “Ibasho”　where elderly people get together and interact, and support system provided by neighborhood residents were constructed.“Ibasho” was established using unoccupied house or store in the local community. For enabling long term support to activities in Ibasho, leaders of local organizations and volunteers in the area received training session by the person in charge of the local government and staff of the research. As a result, by the end of March, 2018, 20 Ibashos were established and carried out by neighborhood residents in the whole area of the community. To develop the care prevention program, 2 years cohort study was conducted for all independent living elderly people in the community. Using these data, risk factors of knee pain, depression, and cognitive decline were examined. Based on the results of analysis, prevention program for knee pain was developed.
