Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、独自の先駆的技術を駆使して広範囲に渡るBモードの空間スペクトル測定を行うCMB 偏光観測実験「GroundBIRD」を行うことである。平成27年度は、以下の項目について研究を進めた。
(1) 望遠鏡システムの開発。まず、回転型の冷凍機の開発を進め、視野方向の窓を開けた状態で、かつ、回転した状態において、0.28K以下で24時間以上の冷却時間が実現することを確認した。また、光学系の設計を行い、製作を行った。
(2) 焦点面検出器の設計とシミュレーションを進め、効率・クロストークが要求性能を満たすデザインを見出した。また、これを元に実際の素子作製のプロトコルを定め、素子作製を開始した。また、焦点面の超伝導検出器に光を導入するコルゲートホーンの設計と試作を行い、製作を開始した。
(3) 望遠鏡を設置する予定のスペイン・カナリア天体物理学研究所と議論を重ね、望遠鏡の設置について合意を得た。また、平成28年度に研究協力の覚書（MoU）、及び、金銭の支払いや安全の確保等も含めた研究協力のための実施契約（Agreement）を締結する準備を進めた。
なお、当初は試験観測を平成27年度に開始する予定であったが、全体のシミュレーションを元にしたデザインの検証が必須であることから、それらを優先して平成27年度は作業を進めた。その結果、望遠鏡を構成するそれぞれのコンポーネントの特性について十分な理解を得たうえで製作作業を進めることが可能となった。なお、試験観測については平成28年度に実施し、性能検証を行っていく予定である。

Reason

研究実績の概要で述べたように、望遠鏡システムについては、焦点面を除く部分はほぼ完成した。残る焦点面製作についても設計が終わり、実際の製作を進めており、おおむね順調に進展している。

また、海外サイトでの観測となるため、観測サイトとの連携が不可欠であるが、良好な信頼関係を築くことができ、MoU、Agreementとも草案はでき上がってきている。このうち、MoUについては、カナリア天体物理学研究所のロペス所長が来日する機会を捉えて、平成28年5月13日に締結式を理研和光にて実施する予定である。また、Agreementについてはすでに文案はできあがっているが金銭の支払いの取り決めや望遠鏡運用における安全上の注意点などデリケートな項目も多数あるため、半年程度の検討期間を経たうえで、平成28年度夏（8-9月を想定）に締結を行う予定である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

以上の進捗を受け、平成28年度は以下の項目について研究を進める。
(1) 焦点面の製作・試験・性能評価
(2) 全体を統合した試験と性能評価
(3) (1)(2)で解決すべき課題が生じた場合には評価結果をもとに改良を施して必要性能を実現する。
(4) 望遠鏡の設置に必要なMoU、Agreementの締結
(5) スペインでの観測サイトの準備と平成29年度に予定している移設の準備
