Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Complexation of the tri-tert-butylazadiboriridine (1) with gold(I) complexes AuCl(L) resulted in the formation of three structurally different complexes. When a weak Lewis base (L=SMe2) is used, a symmetrical complex [η2-B,B-B(tBu)N(tBu)B(tBu)]AuCl (2) was obtained with a loss of the ligand. In cases where phosphines were used, B-B bond cleavage accompanied by either a halide (L=PPh3) or phosphine (L=PMe3) migration proceeded to form different borylgoldborane complexes (3 and 4). A similar product (5) that is isostructural to 3 was obtained by addition of dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) to 2-4. The effect of a second Lewis acidic center on their formation and reactivity has been investigated.
