Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the present project, it is investigated whether or not the spike trains in response to acoustic stimuli of inner hair cells or electric stimuli of sinusoidally amplitude-modulated pulsatile waveform can be represented by a self-exciting point process (SEPP) of the von Mises type through computer simulations using physiologically realistic auditory nerve fiber model. The uniform-scores test was carried out to assess the validity of determining an electric stimulating waveform in terms of matching period histograms of acoustic and electric stimuli via the von Mises parameters of SEPPs. It is concluded that the electric stimulating waveform designed on the basis of the present project may play a key role in improving the performance of cochlear implant devices.
