Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated the mechanism of histopathological changes (adhesion of nerve bundle and perineurium, and fibrosis of the perineurium) appearing in the sciatic and perisciatic tissue during contracture, and also examined physical therapy treatment for its histopathological changes. As a result, we disclosed organic changes (decrease of laminin and maintenance of type IV collagen) in the basement membrane of the sciatic nerve and the surrounding tissue during contracture. It has been shown that the histopathological changes surrounding sciatic nerve tissue can be prevented or improved by physical therapy treatment (Range of motion exercise). It was also shown that nerve is involved in soft tissue type of contracture. These results are new findings.
