Outline of Final Research Achievements |
For the success of long distance running, it is important to improve not only the capacity of energy supply (maximal oxygen uptake: VO2max), but also an ability to save on energy. In this study we payed attention to the running economy (RE) and fat oxidation for the ability to save on energy. It was clarified about RE, 1) the evaluation of RE at high-intensity running, 2) RE had decreased when VO2max had increased by training. On the other hand, we clarified about fat oxidation, 3) it was influenced fat oxidation by energy resources before exercise and by the protocol of exercise, 4) prior high-intensity running accelerated fat oxidation during subsequent endurance running.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
これまで高強度における走の経済性(RE)は評価できないとされてきたが、本研究では血中乳酸濃度を指標に加えることでより妥当に高強度走中のREを評価することが可能となった。また、最大酸素摂取量とREの両者を向上させる中長期的なトレーニング戦略への示唆を得た。一方、脂質代謝を促進する観点から、事前に高強度走を行なわせ、それに引き続き持続走を行なわせる新たなトレーニング法の可能性を見出した。 これらの知見から、REの向上に関しては、中長距離ランナーの中長期的なトレーニング計画への示唆となり、脂質代謝の観点では、市民ランナーに効果的なマラソントレーニング法を提示できる。
