| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We presented the state of meaning construction at national and international conferences by using four different writing methods in newspapers, advertisements, and public signs, and by combining vertical writing and horizontal writing.
In addition, we analyzed visual communication centered on LINE stamps and aimed to clarify the visual literacy unique to Japanese expressions.
As for the way of constructing the meaning by multiple notation reflecting the Japanese culture embedded there, I got suggestions for future research.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
日本語表現に即したビジュアル・リテラシー育成を目指し、多文化多言語を背景にもつ児童の日本語教育への応用の基盤作りを行った。その成果を、国語教育、外国語教育を含めた言語教育に「見る＝ビューイング」を取り入れる意義とビジュアル・リテラシーの重要性を、言語政策的な提言を目指して探求した。
日本の少子高齢化の進行は、加速している。2019年4月の改定入管法施行に続き、今期国会で「日本語教育推進法」が超党派で可決される見通しだ。今後確実に多文化社会へと進む日本の言語教育に、４技能に加え、移民受け入れ先進国でもある英国、カナダ、豪州が実施している「ビューイング」教育を取入れる必要性を伝えることができた。
