Outline of Final Research Achievements

On a basis of comparison with the diaries of the important persons including Chiang Kai-shek and relevant government documents, the research aimed to achieve the following three purposes: to correct the misunderstandings due to the limitations of government documents; to reveal the true faces of China in Sino-Japanese War; to provide new data for further researches.
During the 3-year research, by publishing monographs, papers and reporting at international conference, the researcher put forward new suggestions about the wrangling of Chiang Kai-shek over the order priority of resisting Japan and against the CPC, the relation between the perceptions toward the Soviet Union and the stand of resistance to Japan, the evolution of China’s policy toward Germany, the multifaceted aspects of wartime diplomacy, and the utilization of public documents and private documents in historical research, which contributes to the development of related academic researches.
