Outline of Final Research Achievements

Due to the sudden destabilization of Turkey in the 2nd year (2016) of this research period, the research plan was forced to be changed both in the survey country and in the research content. It leads to the consequence that the research results were diffused and have two different focal points. The main result before the change was to grasp the process of decline of carpet production since the 2000s and the current situation of the Turkish carpet revitalization project known as DOBAG.
The main result after the change is that in the neighboring country Azerbaijan, which has much in common in its linguistic / ethnic cultural background with Turkey, I investigated the current situation of carpet production and distribution in multiple layers. In addition, I clarified the process concerning the strong involvement of the nation in the carpet culture and industry that lead the artisticization and heritagization of their carpets.
