Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed a group version of cognitive behavior therapy using interoceptive exposure(group version CBT-IE) for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and various materials for treatment. We conducted an open label pilot study in collaboration with Kyoto University and Takatsuki Red Cross Hospital. Seven out of the 12 patients referred were included and completed the intervention. As a result, IBS-QOL, which measures IBS specific quality of life, has an average improvement of 24 points, and IBSSI, which measures the severity of IBS symptoms, has an improvement of 101 points on average. The effect sizes are 3.2(IBS-QOL) and -3.1(IBSSI), respectively. We are currently conducting a randomized controlled trial of group CBT-IE in collaboration with Kyoto University and Takatsuki Red Cross Hospital.
Currently, we are carrying out randomized controlled trials of group version CBT-IE jointly with Kyoto University.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
