Outline of Final Research Achievements

I tried evaluation of characteristic of chemical signals derived from predators, which induce adaptive responses of prey species, in freshwater ecosystem. To evaluate the characteristic of the chemical signal efficiently, I examined the degree of adaptive response to chemical signal of dragonfly nymph in the tadpole groups derived from different parent pairs in Japanese tree frog (Hyla japonica). As a result, I found that the degree of the adaptive response by the tadpoles differed among parent pairs. I am advancing further evaluation of the predator chemical signals by using the tadpoles of Hyla japonica and Rhacophorus schlegelii, which the collecting and incubation was easy relatively.
