Outline of Final Research Achievements

In Mexico, the social turmoil accompanying neo-liberal economic restructuring and social apathy due to malfunction of the political system have produced the attempt to reorganize the whole in different forms of social relations. I investigated this phenomenon through fieldwork. First it revealed that Indigenous movement in Chiapas state has exceeded regional and ethnic restrictions, leading to the creation of the "national" in a new form. It also showed that such movements are closely linked to efforts in other sectors, particularly the immigration support movement.
