Research Abstract

本特定領域研究により得られた海底・陸上地震観測データと既存観測データにより、西太平洋マントル遷移層に滞留するスラブの鮮明なP波、S波速度イメージや相転移面の深さ分布を推定した。その結果、スラブが滞留する前に断裂していること;沈み込むスラブ内部にはプレート生成時の異方性が保存されているが、滞留スラブではそれが見られないこと;滞留スラブの主要部分の温度は周囲より500度低く、水はほとんど含まれていないこと、などが明らかになった。
