Research Abstract |
In a heterogeneous network environment where both wired and wireless access coexists, creates a big gap in usability between these two different networks, due to the difference in transmission rate or performance between fixed terminal and mobile terminal. As a result, this causes an extreme drop in usability and reliability. The aim of the research was to establish the basic technologies for "seamless Symbiotic Computing environment in super-high-speed wired and wireless networks", that enables users in both super-high-speed wired and wireless networks to live together, achieves the environment where everyone can easily enjoy the service and at ease with each other even being oblivious of the network, We focused on the research and development of the following sub-themes: 1.Seamless symbiotic computing architecture in super-high-speed wired networks and wireless networks. 2.Operation and management technologies for super-high-speed and wide-area network. 3.New-generation network middlewar

e. 4.Technologies for seamless TCP/IP network in high-speed wired network and wireless network. 5.Development and evaluation of symbiotic computing platform of human and network. Finally, as an application, we built the "Child watch-over support system" by using the basic technologies 1,-5., that we have developed and the evaluation result showed the usefulness of the technology. This novel system can actually notify the situation of the child to the parents accurately and effectively by using our regional information system based on the location information of the child, obtained from GPS, and the effectiveness of the system was confirmed with experimental evaluation. In addition, it was proved that its applicability can be further extended to develop the "Senior citizen watch-over support system", and can achieve advanced support system. In fact, it was confirmed from the experimental result, that this system is able to provide service that can meet the demand of watch-over activities and privacy considering the standpoint of both the watching and the watched side, and verified the effectiveness of this novel system.
