Research Abstract |
Based on the studies on self-consciousness among children with hyperfunctional autism, hearing impairment and/or stuttering, three important factors were delineated to enhance their self-esteem. The three factors and the ways to support the children were as follows ; 1. Children should have feeling in that they are accepted by others (1) Children will share the experiences accompanied with emotional and somatosensory joy with others. (2) Children will have chances of success in front of other children (3) Children will be expressed the feelings by the adults. (4) Children will meet other children with the same disabilities. 2. Children should understand themselves. (1) Adults will verbalize children's feelings and behaviors (2) Children will learn about their disabilities and understand themselves 3. Supportive environment should be prepared (1) Supportive environment which diminish handicaps will be prepared (2) Adults should claim the right to get appropriate supports It was indicated from the study that the three factors should be presented at the same to enhance the children' self-esteems
