Research Abstract |
1.The energy-recycling method was shown to suppress not only transient vibrations but also the vibrations excited by sinusoidal and random forces. We raveled that its characteristic consists of an energy-confinement mechanism and an energy-harvesting one. 2.A self-sensing method using piezoelectric transducers for semi-active vibration suppression is proposed. By using extended system equations, it can be implemented with a Kalman filter instead of the conventional bridge circuit technique. It is applicable to MDOF structures with multiple actuators and has significant robustness against parameter variations. 3.We discovered that the effective resistance of piezoelectric transducers decreases significantly with the number of free electrical vibration cycles. When the energy-recycling method is used, it is essential to use the experimental data obtained from the first half cycle of free electrical vibration for obtaining an accurate resistance value. 4.The sophisticated method to prevent control chattering is proposed for reducing the consumption of recycled energy. 5.We proposed a semi-active isolator to isolate observation devices from disturbances caused by the momentum-wheel. It has simple but effective isolation control that needs to know only one parameter instead of a full state vector. 6.A novel control law based on the sliding-mode control is proposed for suppressing vibration in structures having non-linear piezoelectric transducers. We derived energy-recycling control logic for membranes whose equation of motion is nonlinear 7.An innovative hybrid method of vibration suppression was proposed that combines a bang-bang active method and an energy-recycling semi-active method. It showed a significant improvement over the bang-bang active method, and it outperformed the energy-recycling semi-active method in suppressing various kinds of vibration.
