Research Abstract |
The Cantar de Mio Cid is the medieval Spanish epic or chanson de gest. A number of scholars and historians have been disputed about the author and the date of the composition. The author is unknown. But in the explicit of the extant codex there is a name of the author and the date of composition. "Per Abbat lo escribio en el mes de mayo en 1207." Some insisted that Per Abbat is a mere copist and 1207 is the date of making a copy, others thought that he was the very name of the author ant the extant codex of "Cantar de Mio Cid" was composed between at the end of 12 century and at the beginning of 13 century, by not later than 1207. In recent years, the latter is dominant. Because there are many traces of knowledge of legal terms, Greek and Latin literature, which suppose an intellectual individual or a monk in a monastery. This study concerns the relation between the Cantar de Mio Cid and the source, which I suppose the personal Latin cronicle, Historia Roderici, and other latin cronicles.
