Research Abstract |
1.CFRP laminates which consists of T700 carbon fiber multi-axial knitted fabric and vinylester resin were molded by vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM). In VARTM products, the resin rich often occurred around resin inlet, accordingly the gradients of fiber volume fraction and mechanical property were observed. These gradients of properties were decreased by adding of styrene monomer to matrix resin in order to decrease the resin viscosity. 2.Relationship among the stacking sequence of joint, joint length and joint strength of T700 multi-axial knitted CFRP was evaluated. The joint strength of specimens with joint face of 0°/0° was the highest, and the joint strength was not affected by joint length. In addition, the strength of joint consisted of 90°or mat layers increased with increasing of joint length. Conversely, joint length did not affected the joint strength consisted of 45° layers. 3.In molding of T700 multi-axial knitted CFRP joint structures, the effect of differences between joint adhesive methods, ‘wet-on-wet' molding and 'dry-on-wet' molding, on joint strength was evaluated. ‘Dry-on-wet' molding is the method in which the one side joint face adheres to the other side joint face after curing of CFRP laminates. ‘Wet-on-wet' molding is the method in which joint faces are stacked before resin impregnation. The joint strength of specimen molded by ‘wet-on-wet' was 10% higher than that of specimen molded by'dry-on-wet. 4.As the reference material of T700 multi-axial knitted CFRP,T300 plain woven CFRP joint structures were molded by ‘wet-on-wet' and ‘dry-on-wet' VARTM, and the effect of differences between two methods on joint strength were evaluated. Consequently, ‘wet-on-wet' joints showed approximately 55% higher strength than ‘dry-on-wet' joints. In comparison between T700 multi-axial knitted CFRP and T300 plain woven CFRP, the joint strength of T700 was about 20% higher than that of T300.
