Research Abstract |
We have completed the reprint decipherment work of the microfiche of Weekly Bulletin from 1945 to 1951. Weekly Bulletin is a part of the GHQ/SCAP/PHW (General Headquarters, Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers, Public Health and Welfare Section) documents; we considered the reform of the health care policy in Occupied Japan by analyzing of several sections of Weekly Bulletin, such as Welfare, Medical Service, Nursing Affairs, Veterinary Affairs, Supply, and Preventive Medicine. Also, we have completed the reprint decipherment work of the statistics of Communicable Disease Report and Venereal Disease Report ("by each week" and "by each prefecture") appended to Weekly Bulletin from 1945 to 1951. Using these reprints, we considered a spatial and time series situation of the occurrence of various diseases, such as "Diphtheria", "Dysentery", "Typhoid fever", "Paratyphoid", "Smallpox", "Typhus", "Malaria", "Cholera", "Scarlet fever", "Cerebrospinal fever", and "Japanese encephalitis". The loss part of the Memorandum for Record in Daily Journal of the GHQ/SCAP/PHW document was supplemented with an optical copy; we prepared the reprint decipherment work in the future.
