Research Abstract |
This project was planed to precise quantitative measurements of the bone mineral density (BMD) of compact bone for Japanese mandible by using spiral CT. To complete of this aim, the precise standard materials were prepared by making the pellets of hydroxyapatite and pure carbon mixture, and then tested plural pellets about the strength and the accuracy. After taking the spiral CT image of the patients who visit Tsurumi University Dental Hospital, the bone mineral density with related mean and standard deviation value were calculated according to the linear regression with the CT value and standard mineral concentration (mg/mm3). The final examined numbers of the patients were 84 female and 71 male, respectively. The following results were obtained ; 1.The compact bone mineral density of Japanese mandible was female ; 1.321±0.131mg/mm3 and male ; 1.421 ± 0.107 mg/mm3. 2. The generation difference of BMD in female was comparatively clear, although in male generation difference was not. The peak of compact bone mineral density of Japanese female mandible was shown in forties. 3. The generation difference of the spongy bone BMD in female was considerably clear. 4. These results support previous report which pointed out the influence of the menopause.
