Centennial to millennial-scale variability of East Asian Monsoon: Onset timing, temporal changes, and their controlling factors

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

H30年度には、昨年度やり残したU1426地点コアのXRFコアスキャナーによる元素分析を村山(分担者)が行ない、関、三武(協力者)がピーク強度補正を行う事で定量的データに編集した。更に、U1424, 1425, 1426地点の過去300万年間の元素ピーク強度データを昨年度確立したHole間対比と年代モデルに基づいて1000年毎の連続時系列データに編集し、地点毎の元素埋没フラックス変動の復元を可能にした。
また、U1424地点試料のTOC, C/N, d13Corgの分析結果から海成有機物含有量を推定してXRFコアスキャナーのBr countと比較し、それが海成有機物含有量を反映する事を国際誌に発表した(Seki et al., 2019)。この結果を基に3地点での海成有機物の埋没フラックスを比較したところ、浅い地点での海成有機物埋没フラックスに対する深い地点でのフラックスの割合が大きく変動する事が示された。高橋(分担者)による底層水酸化還元度の変化との比較から、この変化は深層水の溶存酸素レベル変化を通じて冬季モンスーン強度変動を反映している可能性が高い。この影響を差し引く事により日本海表層における生物生産性の変動(夏季モンスーン指標)の復元を行い、夏季モンスーン強度の千年スケール変動が1.31 Maに開始した事を示した。
入野(分担者)はU1425地点の>4 um画分についてその鉱物組成の時代変化を検討し、9.5、8.3、7.9、4.5 Maに石英/曹長石比が高く、タクラマカン砂漠起源風成塵の寄与率が増加した 事を示唆した。一方、王(協力者)は同地点における風成塵供給源変動の復元を3~7MaについてESRを用いて行い、5.5~4.5Ma頃にタクラマカン砂漠起源の風成塵の寄与率が一時的に増えた事を示した。両者の変動は調和的で、鉱物組成による風成塵供給源変動復元の妥当性を示す。
