Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to find out what kind of librarians are needed to develop the learning commons (LC) of university libraries in North America. As a result, it was found that in the highly evaluated cases, information literacy specialists who participate in university-wide educational reforms, architecture specialists who continuously optimize the teaching and learning environment by incorporating the latest technology, and experts on priority university policies such as entrepreneurship support were assigned to the management of the LC. The establishment of the LC not only created a teaching and learning environment based on a new perspective on learning, but also emphasized the role and ability to link the activities of the library to the educational strategies and improvement activities of the university as a whole.
