Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The algal and plant flocculants are two-step type flocculants which requires coagulant. In addition, their flocculation ability is lower than synthetic polymer flocculants. The aim of this study is to obtain one-step type algal and plant flocculant and to improve their flocculation ability by complexation reaction of tannin with enzyme and/or mixing metal salt. As metal salts, magnesium and calcium salts were used, both of which gave one-step type flocculant. Relatively low concentration of calcium salt revealed to yield high functional one-step type flocculant with alginic acid which was active ingredient of algae.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
