Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this research is to reconsider the word developmental disorder as a metaphor and examine its various effects regarding developmental disorders.
In research studies, it has been found that the presence or absence of actual involvement influences the formation of an image of the concept of developmental disorders.
In addition, in literary studies, schizophrenia, which appeared at the end of the modern era, brings in an uncanny and transcendent other in the process of the collapse of the modern subject once established. But, in an autistic world without others, it was argued that at least four different levels of subject arise when others begin to exist.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

20世紀初頭に現れ狂気の代名詞として脚光を浴びた統合失調症と、同世紀の後半それと主役の座が入れ替わるように現れた発達障害としての自閉症は、いずれも近代人が重要視した理性の対立項としての役割を担わされてきました。こうした仮説に基づき、本研究ではとくに自閉症のイメージやメタファーについて探求しました。精神疾患は、ある意味で時代や社会を裏側から照射しているので、そこに付された意味合いを解読することは、われわれが想定する「人間なるもの」を時に浮かび上がらせることにもなります。そして近代的主体が過去のものになりつつある現代において、「来るべき人間」の探求への基礎をなすものだと考えます。
