Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study we have brought out problems in child-rearing of school age and needs of support through the analysis of dialogues in peer-group-support among parents of children with developmental disabilities. We examined the meaning of continuous child-rearing support led by parents in the community and roles of experts.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

発達障害児の保護者支援は、育児スキルを専門家から学ぶペアレント・トレーニングなどの考え方が大きな影響力を持ってきた。しかしながら、本研究の15年に渡る継続的なピア・グループサポートへの追跡的参加・支援により、育児は親子集団という社会的関係の中で学び合い現実に直面し悩み考える中で育ち合うものであり、保護者が子どもや子育てのあり方について現実の中で主体的に考えることが大切であることが明確になってきた。また支援者（専門家）には、保護者が主体者として自己決定していけるよう、継続的に保護者と共に考える姿勢が求められることが示唆された。
