Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成３０年度は、オーロラからの距離によって熱圏風速の変動がどのように異なるのか、ファブリペロ―干渉計の測定データを解析した。その結果、アーク状のオーロラから100km程度内の熱圏風速は、主に加熱によって加速されているが、200km程度離れるとその効果はかなり薄れることが分かった。このことから、磁気圏からオーロラ周辺に流入するエネルギーは100km程度の範囲に集中していることが分かった。この結果を米国雑誌（査読付き）に発表した。
本研究期間、ファブリペロー干渉計を大きなトラブルなく運用させ、多くの有益な測定データを取得した。これにより、熱圏風速の空間構造は、オーロラからの相対的距離に強く依存していることが示唆された。これを把握するためには、熱圏大気プロファイラを用いた水平二次元観測が有効である。今後は、熱圏大気プロファイラの獲得に向けた国際プロジェクトを牽引する。
