Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have developed a simulation model which based on the overtaking behavior model on the provisional two-lane section and have analyzed the optimal additional lane with safety drive and the optimal location of the lane. As this result we have proposed the optimal lane length and its location considering the traffic volume, the large vehicle mix rate, and the location of the exit of expressway.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

交通量が少ない地方部の高速道路では暫定的2車線での整備が進められている箇所が多いが,低速車を先頭とする車群が形成され,低速移動が余儀なくされる.そこで本研究では,暫定2車線高速道路の経済損失を所要時間の増大という側面から定量的に明らかにし,交通量の少ない地方部の高速道路整備のあり方を議論する際に必要となる定量的なデータを提供することが可能となった.
