Outline of Final Research Achievements

In Japan, there is an urgent need to promote the social utilization of female doctors. Female doctors must continue to work without leaving practice, and must be able to develop career path, and show leadership.For that, career development and employability of female doctors, are essential.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本の医学部には女性教授がほとんどいない。現在、女性医師の教授はリーダーシップを発揮し、若い医師を導いている。医療現場では長時間労働が常態化している。女性医師が仕事と家庭生活を両立して、不規則な勤務体系であっても、緊急呼び出しに対応し、泊まりがけの学会参加、妊娠・出産・育児を経て、責任ある仕事を任せてもらえ、継続就労することは困難である。リーダーシップを発揮して活躍する女性医師を成功事例として必要な条件を調査することは今後に役立つと考えた。
