Outline of Final Research Achievements

Using adhesive (as follows biobond) derived from a plant, I proved the biocompatibility for the bone and performed a study to inspect possibility as adhesive for the world's first osteosynthesis. The biobond was superior to biocompatibility as adhesive, and the inflammatory reaction was control and a result not to change at all, but when it was hydrophilic and was poor, and blood and an exudate invaded it between a bone and bond, adhesive strength was remarkable and decreased, and the fixation as I could endure bone fracture treatment was not provided. The improvement to add a hydrophilic group to biobond in itself increased it, but adhesive property in itself decreased, and it was thought that the practical use was difficult.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
