Outline of Annual Research Achievements

・福島第一原子力発電所において、水素爆発、圧力容器のベントによる蒸気の放出、炉心熔融に始まる一連の事故により、放射性物質の大気中への大量放出、高濃度汚染水の海への流出が起こった。ウラン同位体のひとつであるU-236(半減期:2,342万年)は、天然には存在せず、軽水原子炉内で、U-235と中性子との核反応(n,γ)で生成する人工放射性核種である。元々天然には存在しないU-236は、環境中でのウランによる汚染を解明するのに有効な放射性核種である。四重極電場を直列に配置した誘導結合プラズマ質量分析装置(トリプル四重極誘導結合プラズマ質量分析装置)を用いて新たに開発したU-236の分析法を用いて、福島県内の土壌試料中の汚染状況を把握した。
・福島県内から採取した土壌試料中のU-236濃度及びU-236/U-238同位体比をPu同位体(Pu-239, Pu-240)の結果とともに解析し、福島第一原子力発電所事故により極々微量ではあるがU-236が環境中に放出され、土壌に沈着したことを明らかにした。
・水酸化テトラメチルアンモニウムによる環境試料からのI-129の抽出とトリプル四重極誘導結合プラズマ質量分析装置を用いた同重体干渉除去を組み合わせた新たなI-129の分析法を開発した。
・トリプル四重極誘導結合プラズマ質量分析装置を用いて、福島県内から採取した土壌試料中のI-127濃度(0.121-23.6 mg/kg)、I-129濃度(0.962-275 mBq/kg)及びI-129/I-127比を分析し、I-131の分布を再現した。Cs-135、U-236、Pu-239、 Pu-240の結果とともに解析して、福島第一原子力発電所事故により環境中に放出された放射性核種の中でCs-135とI-129が比較的よい相関があり、Cs-135を放射性ヨウ素から大まかに推定できることを明らかにした。
