Outline of Final Research Achievements

On the topic of our research, the international forum, "Pop-folk genres in East Europe and East Asia: Parallel Phenomena on Both Sides of Eurasia” was held at Osaka University in February 2017. Here 11 presentations were given and discussed on the problems on "Enkaesque" genres in East Europe and East Asia. Most of the presentations were submitted and now ready for coming publication as a collected essays 'The Geopolitics of "Enkaesque" Music Genres in East Europe'. In March 2019, I read a paper in a symposium in Sofia University, Bulgaria, titled "Listening Life of Japanese Youth in 2010s" as a keynote speach.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本の文化は、これまでしばしば外国のモデルに沿って理解されてきたが、日本の文化現象をモデルとして海外の文化を理解する試みは多くない。「東欧演歌」という概念は、演歌という日本の音楽ジャンルをモデルとして、東欧諸国や東アジアの各地域において親しまれているポップフォーク（民族的な色合いを帯びた大衆音楽ジャンル）を理解しようとするもので、民族音楽学、比較音楽学、大衆音楽研究にとって新しい視座を提供するものである。本研究は、そのような国際比較研究の手法を構築し、国際フォーラムを開催し、最終的に出版物として社会に発信するという点で意義があった。
