Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this project was to clarify the process of appointment of school principal and formation process of their competences. The main findings were summarized below. First, it was suggested that the actual situation of appointment is not only determined by the system for appointment and selection of principals, but that cultural and political dynamics may also work.Second, Educational administration experience is an important trigger for appointment as a principal. Third, physical education teachers become principal not only through experience at school but also through interaction with teachers at other schools through subject research.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
公立中学校長の多くが保健体育科を担当していたことについては、学校現場でも経験的に知られているが、その理由として生徒指導や部活動指導、体育的行事を通じた経験がスクールリーダーとしての役割意識や役割期待を形成することがあげられている。本研究では、教育行政における経験や勤務する学校から離れた教科の研究組織・集団における経験が影響していることについて、新しい解釈を示すことができた。
