Outline of Final Research Achievements

Ivo Andric, Nobel laureate writer, has been subjected to criticism in the process of reconstructing national literature in Bosnia and Hercegovina after the dissolution of Yugoslavia.
This project reconsiders such politically constrained readings and reveals that Andric rather tried to depict the ambivalence of coexistence.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

多民族社会を背景とするアンドリッチの文学は、ユーゴスラヴィア連邦解体後の各地で「国民文学」が再構築される過程で、毀誉褒貶にさらされてきた。本研究ではそうした政治的拘束にとらわれた読解を再考し、アンドリッチがむしろ口承伝承の豊かさを背景として、共存と摩擦の両義性を描こうとしたこと、そうしたアンドリッチの姿勢が現代文化にも影響を与えていることを明らかにした。ボスニア・ヘルツェゴヴィナが、ヨーロッパとイスラームという二つの文化圏の対立を越えた、新しいヨーロッパ文学像を生起する場となっていくとき、アンドリッチの受容をめぐる議論は今後も重要な鍵となるであろう。
