Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this research was to explore the factors to foster “mutual-help” community. First, we conducted a concept analysis for “mutual-help (gojo in Japanese).” Second, based on the concept of “mutual-help” that we identified, we performed intervention studies to investigate an effective facilitation for active “mutual-help” community activities in two suburban areas.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、高齢社会における互助型コミュニティの構築方法のヒントを探ったものである。将来、都市部も地方部も高齢化率がさらに上昇していく。様々な機能が低下した高齢者が多くなるため、住民が抱える問題や困りごとに対して、コミュニティとして対応していく必要が出てくる。本研究で明らかにした互助型コミュニティ形成を促す手法は、日本各地、および今後高齢化が進展するアジア諸国へのインパクトも大きいと考えられる。
