Research Abstract |
Ultrasound contrast agents are composed of microbubble. Sonazoid[R] is composed of perfluorobutane gas as the inner gas and it has phosphatigyl serine outer shell. Sentinel lymph node is opacified with contrast agent when it is administered into the subcutaneous and submucosal tissues. The results of the projects are as follows ; 1. Proper conditions for ultrasound imaging of lymph nodes are 1) higher MI (mechanical index) is necessary than contrast imaging of microbubbles flowing in the circulating blood as MI>0.4. 2. Phase modulation harmonic imaging technique is more proper for phagocytosed microbubbles in the Kupffer cells than amplitude modulation harmonic imaging technique. 3. HSP (heat shock protein) expression while ultrasound is exposed and phagocytosed microbubbles are destroyed is dependent on the MI of the emitted ultrasound. Lymph node swelling models revealed different patterns of contrast imaging between lymph node -'metastatic from VX2 tumor and inflammatory lymph node swelling from bacterial infection.
