Research Abstract |
We attempted a study of adaptation from two-dimensional pictures into semi 3D tactile pictures utilized three-dimensional modeling system for education for visual impairment and blindness. We produced 3D electronic data of famous paintings, "the milkmaid" by Vermeer and "The Big Wave" by Hokusai Katsushika, utilized three-dimensional modeling system. We molded semi-3D solid materials from these data. We adopted 2 type of molding method, one type is selective laser sintering with polyamide(nylon) powder, another type is milling machineprinting by chemical woods. We examined that both methods can be useful for semi-3D tactile pictures. In addition, we studied to availability of the shaped form as models for vacuum forming materials. Models by milling machine printing were utilized vacuum forming method. That vacuum forming materials proved useful as preparation or review materials for appreciating semi-3D tactile pictures.
