Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to develop high-power far-infrared light source in the terahertz frequency ranger and to promote its applications. The following progress and results have been achieved. 1. Using repetitive pulsed power generator "ETIGO-IV" located in Nagaoka University of Technology, relativistic electron beam has been generated and analyzed for beam characteristics (brightness, pitch-factor, and divergence). After system optimization, the electron beam quality has met with the requirement for large-orbit gyrotron operation. 2. Large-orbit gyrotron experiments have been carried out. The diagnostic results have shown electromagnetic radiation of nearly 150 GHz in frequency and TE_<14> mode. 3. Three-dimensional numerical simulation has been used to analyze the interaction process of large-orbit gyrotron. The calculation results have helped in understanding the electron-beam behavior, resonant cavity design, and radiation mode control. 4. Initial experimental study have been carried out at University of Fukui on large-orbit gyrotron applications, especially in plasma diagnostics and material analysis.
