Research Abstract |
In this study, we clarify the role of the day center and the effect of the home modification among the life support services for the elderly staying at home in Sweden. 1. The role of the day center : As for a social interaction, the meeting points are up in the health maintenance in the elderly at the rate in about one place per 10, 000 people. They have two or more leisure activity rooms, the meeting rooms, and the branch of libraries, drugstores, beauty parlors, laundries, and restaurants, etc., and they are in the places around the station accessible the senior citizen. The stuff of the commune is executing the activities there. Healthy elderly people execute the day-care activity as a volunteer in the place, and it achieves an effect on both sides like the saving of cost and senior citizen's social participation in recent years. 2. The effect of the home modification : The home modification is executed by the commune based on the law. The feature is the following three. (1) Modification to which the senior citizen's life is esteemed, (2) System to which effective modification is done, (3) Modification expense provision for rental housing for steady residence. 1% of the senior citizen welfare budgets is allocated in the home modification. It is evaluated that the effects are higher than costs.
