Research Abstract |
An aim of this program is development of teaching materials based on geoenvironmental sciences for primary and junior high school students. The themes for teaching materials we selected are 1) Light pollution, 2) Atmospheric pollution, 3) Soil pollution by acid rain, and 4) Earthquake mechanism. These teaching materials could enable for teachers who studied in non-scientific cources to carry out geoenvironmental class on systhetic learning in primary and junior high school. The teaching material of the light pollution was composed of a small telescope, a CCD camera, a narrow-band filter, and a personal computer. We succeed in detection of light pollution component from night-sky background. We also succeed in distinguished artificial line emission component from night-sky background with narrow-band filter. Teaching material of atmospheric pollution we established was a observation instrument with polaring plates and digital camera. The degree of polarization indicates a degree of air pollution. We also composed a wide-field sky-monitor system. We collect many soil samples for tearching material of soil pollution caused by acid rain. We obtained extracs from these soil sample and pseude-acid rain I normal rain. Simple chemical analyses of these extracts were performed in many conditions. In the future, it is need to discuss and summarize about these results. Making teaching materials of earthquake were completely finished. They are a hard model and a software model simulating earthquake machamism visually. We also develop new earthquake teaching material finding a hypocenter based on real earthquake data.
