Research Abstract |
1. 16 years database on 'Longitudinal Study on Science and Mathematics' and 'Periodical Survey on Science and Mathematics' were made for 7 groups ; group 1,group 2,group 3,group A, group B, group C, group D. 2. Each data were presented as tables and graphs for totally 367 survey items ; 29 for Background, 21 for Teaching,83 for Mathematics,66 for Attitude,83 for Science,54 for Reading and 31 for Viewing Math and Science. 3. Some results were presented in some Conferences on Mathematics Education which were held in Hiroshima, Kumamoto, Nara and Tokyo. 4. These results were published as two research reports ; they are 405 pages in 2006 and 450 pages in 2007. Main results are the followings. 1) Average percent correct of Mathematics 20 items in grades 5,8,11 are same as before. 2) Percent correct of calculation of complex numbers, and a section of cube were changed more than 10% as compared to before. These items may be influenced by curriculum revisions. 3) Students who did not care about reading of instruction of items were increased. 4) Most of the students who took Math B in high school had taken high scores in elementary school Math. 5) 'Interest in Math' tended to change from elementary to high school.
