| Research Abstract |
In order to further explicate the function of communication in the foundation of human nature such as faith and existence, I conducted researches by tracing the formation of Jaspers' thought of communication and by comparing him with other concerned thinkers. Consequently, I gained the following results.
1: I extracted and investigated the factors concerning communication in Jaspers' Psychology of World Views. In this book, indirect transmission and understanding (Verstehen) are the conceptions for grasping the process in which self-existences examine and explicate each other in connection with the Absolute. Further, these are the prototypes of the thought of communication. This investigation explicates the formation of the thought of communication in Jaspers when he shifted from psychology to philosophy, which has thus far been overlooked.
3: I comprehended the 'logic of species' in Tanabe Hajime as nonobjective thinking, which surpasses the logic of identity, and compared it with Jaspe

The logic of species has characteristics such as absolute dialectic that grasps the reality moving through negation and opposition, the logic of copula that mediates the subject and predicate with nothingness, and the logic of freedom of self-existence. Although there are differences in emphasis, these specialties can also be found in Jaspers. This investigation indicates a viewpoint for the explication of the function of communication that differs from the logic of identity.
