| Research Abstract |
ホイッグを中心としたイギリス政治体制とByronの関係を明らかにした。ホイッグには進歩的であるが、同時に体制擁護的側面があることを突き止め、Byronにも同様な政治的特性があることを示した。The Giaour、The Bride of Abydos、The Corsair等の初期東方物語詩群、The Islandという後期の詩、三つの政治演説等を分析して、彼のラディカリズムは必ず貴族的な保守主義によって抑制されていることを明らかにした。
