Research Abstract |
In the Laboratory for Electron Beam Research and Application (LEBRA) at Nihon University, a parametric X-ray radiation (PXR) generator system was constructed using high-energy electron beams from the 125 MeV electron linear accelerator. For an application to the material science, a new X-ray measurement system using PXR was studied (1) Construction of PXR beam line A fundamental X-ray diffraction system was assembled on the PXR beam line. Application facilities for Fluorescence X-ray analysis and imaging were also added to the system. (2) Stabilization of PXR Stability of the electron beam, optical elements and control devices were investigated. After the improvement, the fluctuation of electron beam has been controlled under 0.05 %. Since the angular instability of goniometer, which was about 1 arcsec/h is not enough for precision measurement, it was changed to the high spec machine. It was clarified that the effect of environment such as the room temperature is not negligible. (3) Time resolved measurement Time resolved measurement became practicable by using the RF signal of accelerator. It is applied to the gate system of CCD as a trigger signal. (4) Application The structures of macromolecules and biological materials were measured. The applied study using PXR was achieved for the first time in the world.
