Research Abstract |
1) Manufacturing of high repulsion type composite materials W/Ti-6A1-4V composite materials were manufactured by the method which Tungsten long fiber mesh of 100μm in length and Ti-6A1-4V powder were inserted between Ti-6A1-4V alloy plates and they were hot pressed in the vacuum of 10-2 Pa. The composite materials of 10cm×10cm square which were more high density than the previous year were completed. 2) Evaluation test of composite materials (1) In the minuteness organization observation of composite materials, Tungsten mesh and Ti-6Al-4V powder were closely molded by hot-press. It was find that Tungsten fiber maintained initial shape without transforming and interface was also excellent. (2) The high repulsion power was detected by the material thickness when one Tungsten mesh was inserted in composite materials. Then, the rise of the restitution coefficient was admitted as plate thickness thinned. (3) From the results of observation in the bending test of composite materials, the breakdown occurred from the Tungsten mesh neighborhood. This suggested the possibility that the oxide film was formed on the Tungsten surface. To demonstrate the tensile ability of Tungsten effectively, however, it is preferable that the interface between matrix and Tungsten was loose. This was good condition for the restitution coefficient was improved 3) FEM analysis To obtain the optimum thickness of W/Ti-6A1-4V composite materials, when the materials were used for the golf club surface, the model which titanium alloy was compound by Tungsten sheet was analyzed by FEM. (1) The thickness of Tungsten sheet and golf club surface were changed and analyzed. The distributions of displacement were obtained. (2) The relationship of the linear function was approved between the plate thickness and the flexure. By using Tungsten, it was possible to make golf club face thin and the indicator to golf club head with high repulsion characteristic was obtained.
